Several Thousand Appointments Remain at City of Seattle Locations This Week; Mayor Urges All Seattleites to Help Someone Else Get Vaccinated
SEATTLE (May 3, 2021) – Mayor Jenny A. Durkan today announced that all people who live or work in King County can now walk or roll up to the Lumen Field Event Center, Rainier Beach, and West Seattle vaccination sites, and get vaccinated without an appointment. Vaccinations without an appointment are available for those seeking a first or a second dose. As of April 30, an estimated 68 percent of Seattle residents had begun the vaccination process, and 41 percent are fully vaccinated.
“Seattle is making it easier than ever to quickly and easily get vaccinated. As of today, nearly 70 percent of eligible Seattleites have begun their vaccination progress. This is an incredible milestone, and if we continue this effort, we’ll reach a level of community protection where so many of us – particularly our most vulnerable – will be protected from the most serious effects of this virus,” said Mayor Durkan. “We’ve reached a turning point in our vaccination efforts: Now anyone who wants a vaccination in Seattle and King County can get one. If you have already been vaccinated, be a good neighbor and help your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers get vaccinated. It’s up to all of us to defeat this pandemic.”
Patients who receive their first dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine will be scheduled for their second dose once they register at the vaccination site. Patients who receive their second dose must provide proof of immunization via their vaccine card or immunization record. Patients can access their information at https://myirmobile.com. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are only for patients 18 years-old or older, and the Pfizer vaccine is only for patients 16 years-old or older. The vaccines are not interchangeable. Patients must follow Centers for Disease Control & Prevention timing guidance when seeking their second dose.
Today and tomorrow, Rainier Beach is offering the Pfizer vaccine, and West Seattle is offering the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Beginning Wednesday, May 5, the following vaccines will be available each day of operation going forward:
- Lumen Field Event Center: Pfizer
- Rainier Beach Vaccination Hub: Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer
- West Seattle Vaccination Hub: Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer
The address and hours of operation at these three City vaccination sites are as follows:
- Lumen Field Event Center: 330 S Royal Brougham Way, Seattle, WA 98134; Thursday and Saturday, 11:15 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.
- Rainier Beach Vaccination Hub: 8702 Seward Park Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118; Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, May 4, this hub will be open until 7:30 p.m.

Members of the public can find more information on the City’s website including booking first or second dose appointments.
“We’ve said since the beginning that help is on the way, and it is here now. Now that we have the supply, getting a vaccine has never been easier,” said Calvin W. Goings, Director of the City’s Department of Finance and Administrative Services, which, with Swedish, operates the Community Vaccination Site at the Lumen Field Event Center and has provided more than 75,000 vaccines since opening in mid-March. “The key is: please don’t wait. Get your vaccine today. Every day you wait is a day you are vulnerable to catching and spreading this virus to a family member, friend or colleague, and the only way we will get on the other side of this virus is together—with all of us doing our part.”
“As we continue to see cases of COVID-19 in our region, it has become even more important to remove any barriers for accessing a vaccine. We have enough supply to now allow anyone 16+ to get vaccinated at our two Seattle Fire operated vaccination hubs in Rainier Beach and West Seattle without an appointment. And starting on Wednesday, May 5, we will offer all three vaccines at our sites and give the person getting vaccinated the option to choose between Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson,” said Fire Chief Harold Scoggins.
In addition, the Seattle Fire Department is piloting evening hours at the Rainier Beach and West Seattle Vaccination Hubs. On Tuesday, May 4, the Rainier Beach hub will remain open until 7:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, May 5, the West Seattle hub will remain open until 7:30 p.m. Vaccinations without an appointment are also available during evening hours.
Since launching its vaccination effort on January 14, the City of Seattle has administered over 170,000 vaccinations to eligible adults (over 111,000 individuals). These vaccinations have occurred at 88 Adult Family Homes, 90 affordable housing buildings with seniors and people with disabilities, 19 pop-ups, 18 permanent supportive housing buildings, two vulnerable youth-serving organizations, and the four City-affiliated fixed vaccination sites. Approximately 46 percent of those vaccinated by the City identify as BIPOC communities.
For more information, visit the City’s vaccination website at www.seattle.gov/vaccine. The site contains vaccination information in seven languages, and in-language assistance is also available over the phone. Even as more residents get vaccinated, public health measures like social distancing, wearing a mask, and washing your hands remain critical. Please continue to follow all public health guidance, and visit this website from Public Health – Seattle & King County for more information.
