February 5, 2019 Update: City of Seattle Government

Seattle (February 5, 2019) – Seattle Public Libraries – Libraries are operating within regular hours with the following exceptions: Closed: International District/Chinatown Branch, NewHolly Branch, Madrona Sally-Goldmark Branch, and Montlake Branch. Delayed opening/early closing: Columbia Branch and Beacon Hill Branch (noon to 6 p.m.). Early closing: Rainier Beach Branch, West Seattle Branch, Southwest Branch, and Douglass-Truth Branch (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Seattle Center: Seattle Center Armory is open today from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm to serve as a warming shelter.

8:30 am – The City of Seattle government is open today but some departments have been impacted by the weather. Continue to check www.seattle.gov for updates on delays, closures, or other impacts to City services.

City Council: There could be delays or updates to City Council’s regularly scheduled meetings and briefings. You can follow updates here.

Customer Service Bureau and Service Centers: The Customer Service Bureau at Seattle City Hall will open this morning at 8:00 am. All customer service centers will open.

Human Services Department: The City of Seattle’s Human Services Department (HSD) is opening a cold weather shelter Sunday night, February 3rd through Sunday night, February 10th in light of the extended forecast for overnight temperatures below freezing. Salvation Army will operate the shelter, open to adults 18 and older (all genders), at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall (301 Mercer St., Seattle, WA 98109). This shelter will be open from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The shelter is open access and no referral is necessary.  Clients are asked to use the lower level entrance (on Mercer St.). Seattle Center Armory is open today from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm to serve as a warming shelter.

Seattle Public Libraries: Check for updates before heading to any Library location, due to possible delays. You can follow updates to Seattle Public Libraries here.

Seattle Public Utilities: Due to continued icy road conditions, there will be no residential or commercial garbage, recycling or food/yard waste pickup in Seattle today, February 5th. Contractors will attempt to serve priority commercial locations this afternoon. Transfer stations will open on time. You can follow any updates here.

Seattle Department of Transportation: Seattle Department of Transportation crews have been working since Sunday at 12:00 pm to prepare roads. Follow the SDOT blog as they work around the clock to clear snow from major routes and for tips on transportation safety during winter weather.

Seattle Municipal Courts: Seattle Municipal Court will be closed today except for in-custody arraignments at the King County Jail, Courtroom 2 (KCJ2). All hearings, probation appointments and jury service will be rescheduled and no bench warrants or probation violations will be issued. Seattle Preschool Program: Preschools at Seattle Public School sites are cancelled. For non-SPS preschool sites, follow your preschools inclement weather policy.

Seattle Center: Seattle Center Armory is open today from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm to serve as a warming shelter.

Seattle City Light: No major outages at this time.
