Mayor Jenny Durkan Statement on Councilmember Sally Bagshaw’s Announcement That She Will Not Seek Re-election

Seattle (November 27, 2018) – Mayor Jenny A. Durkan released the below statement following the announcement by Councilmember Sally Bagshaw that she will not seek re-election in 2019:

“I have been lucky to know and work with Sally Bagshaw for many years, and I have been lucky to see firsthand Sally’s love for Seattle and commitment to more vibrant, inclusive communities. For decades, she has been a tireless voice for our most vulnerable neighbors.

“I’m so grateful for Sally’s service to Seattle. Seattle is better for it.

“Since I became Mayor, Councilmember Bagshaw has been a key partner – including on delivering the balanced budget.

“Over the remainder of Councilmember Bagshaw’s term, I look forward to continuing to work with her to deliver for the people of Seattle.

“Sally is also an accomplished sailor and pilot who has repeatedly offered me lessons. Now that she will have more time to practice, I finally might take her up on that!”
