Mayor Jenny Durkan Statement on Councilmember Rob Johnson’s Announcement That He Will Not Seek Re-election

Seattle (November 8, 2018) – Mayor Jenny A. Durkan issued the below statement following the announcement by Councilmember Rob Johnson that he will not seek re-election in 2019:

“Councilmember Johnson has been a steadfast voice for a more vibrant, inclusive, and affordable Seattle. Working together, we have made major investments in transit, transportation, education, and affordable housing.

“Councilmember Johnson was also a critical partner in creating the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise plan to close the opportunity gap and help children succeed from preschool through college – a plan that Seattle voters approved on Tuesday.

“Over the remainder of Councilmember Johnson’s term, I look forward to continuing to work with him to deliver for the people of Seattle.

“I’m grateful for Rob’s service to our City, and while we will miss him in City Hall, I know he will continue to make a positive impact on Seattle for years to come.”
